Throughout the whole day, newborns spend most of their time sleeping. They can sleep for up to 16 hours or more in a day, sleeping for about 3 hours during each rest period. Therefore taking into account the huge amount of time infants sleep, it is important to identify the safety issues when babies go to bed.

Firstly, co-sleeping is very dangerous. Especially adults who usually fall into deep sleeps, they might inadvertently crush or suffocate the baby. In addition, babies usually co-sleep together on their parents’ bed, there are heavy quilts and blankets that may accidently be placed over their face and cause babies to suffocate too.

Looking at all these dangers of co-sleeping, try to let your child sleep in a baby nursery bedding. Sleeping in a crib will have no dangers of parents turning onto their babies. Besides, there won’t be any heavy quilts and blankets that may cause the baby to choke while sleeping. Therefore, parents are encouraged to get a baby nursery bedding for your little one to sleep in as it is safer than co-sleeping with the baby’s parents.

The use of blankets, too has also been dissuade by many as they fear that the blanket may carelessly cover the baby’s head, however some parents are afraid that their baby may catch a cold at night. In fact, there is a safe way of using a blanket during the baby’s rest. Just make sure that when your child is in the baby nursery bedding, his feet touches the end of the crib and the blanket shouldn’t be higher than his chest. After that, tuck the blanket under his hands and the blanket will not cover his face easily making it safer for babies to sleep at night with the blanket.

Letting your baby to sleep on her back is one safe way of sleeping too. Infants sleeping on their tummy may have risks of choking when your baby faces down on the mattress. Infants are too weak to roll around or shift themselves out of a dangerous position. Therefore letting your child sleep on her back in the baby nursery bedding will be the safest option.

Some infants sleep better on their tummy because their heart is close to something which makes them feel safe and at ease. However, it is still not advisable to let your child sleep on her tummy until, maybe when she has the ability to be able to roll over in bed by herself.

When your baby is sleeping, try to dress your baby in light sleep clothing to avoid your baby from feeling too warm. It is at best to keep the nursery room at room temperature so that your baby will feel neither too cold nor warm. In the event.

Look closely at all these factors and assess your baby’s sleeping area carefully. Let your baby sleep safely and pleasantly and you will be able to rest well without worries too!

Reports have shown that there are more than 6000 babies die of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) each year and out of these cases, more than 900 cases are due to babies sleeping on soft baby nursery bedding. Therefore the question, is your nursery bedding safe for your child to sleep in?

Soft baby nursery bedding can cause an infant to suffocate when the baby is being placed on her belly and her head sinks into the soft mattress. Soft mattresses are comfortable for babies, however they might be dangerous too.As infants are too feeble, when their heads are being placed on the soft mattress, they might not have the ability to roll over to recover from the dangerous position. Fatal accidents might occur if no one is around to take care of the baby.

To avoid such accidents, parents can select a baby nursery bedding with a firm mattress that does not get depressed easily when some weight is being applied on it. They can easily do a test by pressing one hand against the mattress to assess it’s strength in resisting the force applied. The harder it is to press down on the bedding, the better it is.

Bumper pads, that are added in the crib, can also cause suffocation. Bumper pads make the baby nursery bedding look cute and pretty, however, suffocation can happen when infants have their face pressed against the soft and fluffy bumper pads and are unable to free themselves.

Babies are naturally weak and vulnerable especially at these times, and parents should take extra care and precaution. Some people recommend to buy firmer bumper pads while others just remove all of them from the crib. The second method being the better one because, though no often, there are also cases of strangulation by the strings of the bumper pads and suffocation when babies are pressed between the bumper pads and another object.

Researchers also found out that there are poisonous gases in beddings which can harm the baby’s health . Scientists found that there are chemical compounds containing phosphorous and arsenic which are used as fire retardants, are being added to mattresses which can be very dangerous. Once these chemical compounds interact with certain reactants, they release poisonous gases which may be fatal if a baby breathes in a large amount of it when sleeping in the baby nursery bedding.

Researchers later found that a fungus that commonly germinates in baby bedding might be one of the reactants which can help to release the poisonous gases. Therefore, they urge parents not to reuse old baby nursery bedding which may contain such fungus after being used for a long period of time. Although, infants sleep in cribs for only a short period of time, parents should buy a new crib set rather than reusing to avoid the existence of such fungus. Furthermore, a new baby nursery bedding will look prettier than an old reused one.

Looking at all these factors, parents should be able to evaluate if they have a safe baby nursery bedding. If not, go buy a new crib set and choose one safe bedding so that not only will your child be able to sleep safely, but you will have a good rest every night without worries.

The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) was created in 1972 and for more than 30 years, it has taken the responsibility of protecting consumers against risks of injuries resulting from the usage of unsafe products. The Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) was signed into the United States law to reinforce any safety measures required in consumer products.

Most recently, laws have been implemented and aimed to further reduce children’s exposure to lead. The dangers of lead poisoning includes irreversible brain damage, kidney problems and may even be fatal. In the late 1970s, the problem was so serious, that there were millions of children in the United States with elevated blood lead levels that were deemed unhealthy!

The CPSC noticed the severity of the situation and have concluded that any children’s product that contains more than 600 parts per million (ppm) of lead in any part of an accessible product would be seen as dangerous. Which means that any children’s product from toys to baby nursery bedding which contains more than 600ppm would be dangerous for children under the CPSIA.

The CPSC has also defined that any individual younger than or at 12 years of age would be seen as children under the eyes of the law and all goods that were manufactured with the intention of selling mainly to the these group of children will have to comply to it.

This law also applies to all baby nursery bedding, nursery decoration, toys and children’s products that were manufactured before the date of the law that was implemented. The Commission also requires all goods that were manufactured after 90 days since the creation of the rule to be assessed by an accredited third party. This is to ensure that the manufacturers adhere to the safety regulations that the Commission has implemented.

In addition, they have shown their dedication in ensuring all children products non-toxic by planning to reduce the limits to 300ppm in August and further reduce it again in 2011 to a level which is seen reasonable according to the technology available by then. However, with the rapid advancement of technology, all toys and baby nursery bedding might contain only traces of lead and would be extremely safe for use in the near future.

When shopping for a baby nursery bedding, many parents do not put too much thoughts into the choosing of mattresses for babies. But there are important points where parent should look out for to ensure that safety is not compromised and yet your baby still feels comfortable sleeping in it.

Most parents usually buy mattresses off the rack without much thought. Different parents have different buying criteria such as price, size and safety aspects which many parents may not have thought of. However, what may look like a bargain, may not be good or safe enough for your child and what is may seem cozy and comfortable for adults may not be seen as the same way your your baby.

The first and foremost criteria that one should consider, size. When one chooses the size, parents must make sure that the size fits the crib or baby nursery bedding that you already own. Most mattresses have standardized the size these days so that shouldn’t be a headache, but as the safety of the child is involved, it is better to make sure that the size fits rather than simply assuming.

When there is too big gap, and not knowing better, they may hurt themselves as they toss and turn around or result in their feet getting caught when they start to walk.

When parents shop for mattresses, they can make sure that there is no more than one finger spacing between the crib and the mattress. This would make sure that there is no extra space that might accidently injure your little one.

After considering size, we come to comfort next. For adults, a soft and comfortable mattress may nice for a good night’s rest but for babies, it would be a different story. The mattresses should not be too soft. This is especially important when when it comes to newborns. Newborns do not have the strength to roll around in bed, and be having a firm mattress, it allows the baby to turn over easily as compared to a soft mattress. This is crucial, if your baby has her face down and if the mattress is too soft, resulting in difficulty in turning over, this may lead to suffocation.

Parents can make sure that the mattress is hard enough by pushing their hand down into the mattress. The harder to press, the less deporession, the better it would be for the baby. Of course, the mattress cannot be too hard or it would be too uncomfortable for your precious baby.

Last but not least, the price. Many parents find it difficult to decide which material should be the appropriate one. Do not bother too much, foam or coil, it is equally well if it fits the criteria above.

So choose wisely when selecting the baby nursery bedding for your hild and it will give your precious baby a good rest through the night!!

There are numerous websites selling baby nursery bedding, it makes it difficult to choose from the wide variety available. Besides color and design where everyone is looking out for, there are many things that ought to be seriously considered before making the right choice for your baby.

One area where many parents would consider is the pricing. That, of course, is definitely important. It is not really worthwhile is to buy nursery bedding that are too pricey, in actual fact, your little one might not be using it for long.

However, parents must learn to weigh the benefits that expensive bedding sets may bring.

Many mid-range baby nursery bedding are made with good quality materials at lower prices. Their designs are still as trendy, allowing parents to choose one that would suit the decoration of the room or simply one that looks pretty to them.

However, one important factor that most parents fail to recognize is the material used to make the baby bedding. The material used to make the bedding is especially important for babies due to their delicate and sensory skin. babies being young and weak, their skin gets irritated easily, causing rashes and bringing more problems such as sleepless nights for both the child and the parents.

Therefore, the material of the bedding is extremely important and we should take extra care to look out for it. The best ingredient for your baby bedding is cotton. Cotton being soft and comfortable, ensuring that it would not irritate the sensitive baby skin. Try to choose products that are fully made of cotton, this would make sure that the bedding would be comfortable for the baby to sleep without causing any skin conditions.

Some bedding incorporates wool as part of the whole material. This usually makes the material a little scratchy, making your little one feel uncomfortable causing him to wake up every now and then during his sleep. For adults it usually would not matter too much as they don't really feel it. But things become different when it comes to babies, their sensitive skin is unable to withstand the scratchy feeling the wool causes.

In addition, when it is 100% cotton, there are less chances of it running shape or shrinking due to the different properties that result in variations in expansion and contraction of the different materials. In other words, the baby nursery bedding would be able to last longer and be in better condition till your baby is ready to move on to toddler beds!

Choosing baby nursery bedding is fun and exciting. From the wide selection of bedding to pick from, finding the perfect one for your baby girl is not hard to do. Whatever choice you may pick, it is important that it gives her ample care and protection.

Go for crib bedding that is good quality because you cannot afford to put your baby at risk. The baby’s crib serves as her bed and her playhouse at the same time. Your baby spends a lot of time there, so it is crucial that she is comfy and at ease.

Aside from that, nursery bedding must be made from soft and smooth cotton for added comfort. Bearing these ideas in mind, choose the bedding that goes best for your precious little daughter. These are a few great ideas to think about in picking the right baby girl bedding.

Girly: Choose pastel colors to have a girly theme for your baby girl’s bedding. You can use those designed with flowers, butterflies, and princesses. You can also have those with laces, ribbons, or bows to make the cot more beautiful and appealing. These will make your baby bedding look lighter and more comfortable for your little girl.

Retro Style Bedding: Brown? Huh? Yeah, just in case you haven't guessed, the 70s are back in style. Not just bell bottoms either. We are talking about colors! Pink, brown and lime green, that is. Perhaps you like tans and lavenders with a little yellow and lime green. Stripes?

Usually, the baby's nursery is one of the tiniest rooms in the house.Lots of nurseries are adapted from home offices, sewing rooms, and even walk in closets! There's nothing wrong with this, but it means working with a small, and frequently awkward shaped space.Which means that the colors you choose and the furniture placed in it are very important.Bad ones could result in a cramped, overwhelming space. The right ones will help the nursery feel cozy and welcoming. However, the process of choosing nursery furniture doesn’t have to be a difficult one. Here are a few tips to make sure you end up picking charming but useful nursery furniture that's just right for your child.

You'll need to start out with a list of your basic requirements for the room. Usually cots or cribs are required, as well as storage and changing space. You'll need to work out the dimensions of the room and the furniture you want to use. Draw out a plan, taking into account the locations of built in wardrobes, radiators, windows, and the swing area of the door. These obstacles can be real problems in your nursery if you don't remember them.Too many parents have been surprised by an obstacle in a place they wanted to put storage or other furniture.

This will allow you to asess where your items will go. If you haven't bought your furniture yet, use an average from retailers to decide your placement. You might even think about creating pieces of newspaper in the dimensions of your furniture and placing them on the floor in the right locations. That will allow you to easily see how much space will be available and let you try moving around in it to see if things feel comfortable. You won't have to find out that your furniture is too large or close together after you buy.

Remember not to get too much when you're buying items for your new little one. It's too easy to get carried away.Your baby will be using some of these items for only a short time, so it's a good idea to keep to your budget and your real needs. Will you choose a cots or cot beds? Is there a toddler bed available for when a cot is no longer needed? How about the area for changing?Make sure you have storage space, and that it's a comfortable height for changing your infant- you should not lean over or stand in a strange position. You can even buy cot top changers – these fit over the top of a cot – to save space until your baby can roll over.

Cot beds are basically cots which are wider and longer than a standard size cot. Often parents choose to buy a cot bed instead of a cot because cot beds change into a junior bed - that is a toddler sized bed - after baby has outgrown the nursery cot.

Junior beds are smaller than an adult bed. As a very general guide, a cot bed will normally last until your child is about 3-4 years old, depending on their size.

One thing bear in mind though is that you need to buy cot bed bedding and not bedding designed for a cot. A cot bed is a little larger than a standard sized cot so cot bed bedding, including cot bed duvets and cot bed sheets, take this into account and are made larger to fit the cot bed properly.

Also dont forget that cot beds do not usually have drop sides and not all models enable parents to select different mattress positions or heights. Not having drop sides means it can be a little more difficult to get a baby in and out of their cot. Also, as cot beds are that little bit larger than cots you need to think about your nursery dimensions if your baby room is on the small side.

We think that a cot bed can be useful for bridging the gap between a baby cot and an adult bed. You dont have to worry about your babys sleeping arrangements until they are almost ready to start at school.

Cot beds don't usually cost more than a cot so a cot bed can be a money saving option too as you wont need to buy a separate junior bed. Cot beds can provide a roomy sleeping solution for both toddlers and older babies

Your baby will find moses baskets a cosy way to sleep, and you will find it safe and secure and not nearly as heavy as other options. Most moses baskets are created from palm but they can be made of maize or other expensive types from wicker. You will find that wicker baskets have a tendency to last the longest. The carrying handles allow you to move them from room to room. Typically, Moses baskets will include a fabric-covered hood and a complete set of moses baskets bedding. Many moses baskets have gender-neutral bedding options so you can buy in advance without knowing if you’re having a boy or a girl. Usually the baskets come with a foam mattress to help make it more comfortable for a baby. Moses baskets make lovely newborn baby presents for new parents. Some expectant parents choose to ask family and friends to team up to buy a moses basket. Some families have moses baskets which they pass around the family for each baby. Sharing new baby expenses like this can help new parents out considerably.

Moses baskets may be placed directly on the floor, or they may be placed at bed level through moses baskets stands.

{Cons

• Only used for the first three months or so: an expensive purchase if you buy new

Safety tip: Check when buying a Moses basket that its handles are sturdy and meet in the middle.

Pros

• Very portable: easy to move from room to room

• Your baby may feel more secure in a Moses basket than a cot
} You should carry the basket with two hands, one under the basket supporting the baby and one holding the handles together. If that is a concern for you, simply make sure to move it only after taking your baby out.

Parents’ tip: Let your baby sleep in his Moses basket inside the cot. Then eventually slowly she will get used to stay there.
